The 4 Problems That Stop Your Fitness Success

Ah, getting fit! It’s one of the most popular new year’s resolutions. But it is also one of the most commonly failed resolutions. Most of us struggle to maintain our fitness regime in the long term. While it’s fair to say that motivation does play a significant role in your fitness success, it would be too easy to assume that lack of motivation is the only reason for our fitness failures. More often than not, we can’t keep up with our fitness plans because we don’t follow the right plan for our needs. Indeed, have you ever considered whether your weight loss strategy was properly designed for you?

#1. You pick only indoor activities

It’s not uncommon to begin your fitness journey by signing up to your local gym. While there is nothing wrong with working out at the gym, you need to introduce diversity into your schedule. As practical as the 24/7 gym can be, it is also a dull and never-changing environment. You are going to get bored with its four walls quickly if you don’t have other workouts planned. Training outdoors is always a good idea. Indeed, you can find activities that are suitable outside the gym. But, more importantly, it’s a change of environment that will keep you motivated. You can schedule a running day, for instance.

#2. Your diet plan is too restrictive

Granted, you can’t lose weight if you eat absolutely everything and anything. However, you can’t think of food as a punishment. You need to maintain a positive relationship with food if you’re going to stick to your diet for a long time. Restrictive diets are impossible to keep; you’ll soon be giving in to your cravings. But a balanced and healthy diet that kick starts weight loss, such as the keto diet, can be fun and yummy too. Did you know you could have a keto chocolate mug cake for dessert? Knowing that you can indulge a little makes everything more manageable!

#3. You want to achieve too much too early

Being motivated is essential. However, it’s important to be realistic about what you can achieve. Indeed, setting unrealistic goals set yourself up for massive disappointment. Because goal setting is detrimental to your fitness plan, you need to make sure you’ve got achievable objectives that let you stick to your program in the long term. The truth is that you’re not going to drop a dress size overnight. But, the important lesson is that you will drop a dress size over time if you stick to a suitable schedule.

#4. You don’t reward yourself properly

So, you have just finished your first week of fitness workouts. It’s something you should be celebrating. Not rewarding yourself for your small achievements can affect your motivation. You could celebrate by going to the movies with a friend, or buying a cute workout outfit, for instance. It’s important to reward yourself, especially when you find it hard to stick with your plan.

Fitness success is not an impossible dream. However, if you’re planning to lose weight, you need to be realistic about your goals and expectations. Remember that you are not a machine, you can’t work out every day of the week between four walls without losing patience! Additionally, you need to understand how to reward yourself with the food you love in moderation and with little treats for all achievements. Fitness is a long process that requires attention and self-love.
