Keep the Kids Entertained This Holiday Season: When you Can’t go Outside

It’s on Dec. 8th and we have already had two big snow storms. So far Monday and Tuesday were snow days. I thought I was going to loose my mind yesterday when it was snowing so bad, the power was out and the girls were running around screaming like little monkeys.

I felt like screaming too! BUT! There are ways to stay sane, I mean keep the kids entertained when you can’t get outside to play. Yes, I know that there will be days when it will be nice, like today where I will be able to take the girls out and play in the snow. But what about days like yesterday? Either it’s pouring rain, or snowing so bad it hurts to be in it. (Sometimes snow cna feel like little needles when it hits your face)

I have a few suggestions on what parents can do with their kids this Holiday Season.

junglegymFirst off VTech Toys has some fantastic toys that you can play with your kids, or they can play on their own. The Jungle Gym offers kids the chance to play and burn off that energy, not to mention getting a little exercise is always good. The Jungle Gym is a series of toys that help your child get exercise. The more your child exercises, the more they learn!

You can read more about what I thought of the Jungle Gym here.  My kids really enjoyed playing with the Jungle Gym.  Not to mention you can enter and win your own set of the Jungle Gym Series. Giveaway ends on Dec. 16th

V.Smile Motion is a breakthrough gaming console that combines wireless, motion-activated play, web connectivity and educational gaming into a system that plugs directly into your TV! Your child will love these wireless action packed toys that guide them through age-appropriate skill levels and developmental activities.

Trust me, (as long as you have power) your kids will be entertained for hours. But if your kids are like mine, eventually they will start fighting over who gets the controller, so you can also get the kids their own V.Smile Cyber Pocket.

cyberpocketOr when one kid is playing the V.Smile Motion another can play with the Cyber Pocket. Smart video gaming goes anywhere with the V.Smile Cyber Pocket – featuring a flip top high resolution screen and an easy touch writing pad. Cyber Pocket even adjusts to both right and left-handed players.

Playing Cyber Pocket at home? An easy TV connect cord allows the game to be played on the TV so you can see the action on the big screen. It looks and plays just like the big kids’ systems!  Best of all, V.Smile Cyber Pocket plays all of the Smartridges in the V.Smile Library. So as their skills grow, you can keep supplying them with new challenges.

Of course there maybe days where you wont have power, like us yesterday. We had tons of candles going with the Light Illusions and fireplace. So we really didn’t have a ton of light to see anything, so although board games are great to play on bad weather days, sometimes yo really can’t see anything. We pretty much sat around cuddling and the girls colored. They had enough light to color in their coloring books. I noticed that with the lights out and the only light came from the fireplace, it made it calm and the girls were quiet.

If you want to keep the noise down inside, turn off all the lights and TVs. This will help calm the kids. Get out some coloring books and have the kids color pages they can give out to Grandma and Gramdpa.

I just ordered the Zippity for my daughter. The giraffe, the turtle and the V-motion look like she’d like them also.
