Staying home with Roku

For the past two weeks the family and I have enjoyed some quality time, watching movies using our new Roku. Every day when Hubby gets home we sit down and pick a movie together. And if we didn’t see something that was interesting we would just log into netflix and pick a few new instant movies to watch!

The Roku digital video player (also known as the Netflix Player by Roku) instantly streams high quality movies from Netflix (and soon from Amazon Video On Demand) over the Internet — directly to your TV. The Wall Street Journal, CNET, WIRED, and other publications have given the Roku player overwhelmingly positive reviews. Priced at just $99.99, the affordable Roku player is compact, easy to set up and intuitive to use.

When we received our Roku, I had it set up within 15 minutes. I have to admit I was rather scared, becasue of setting it up with our wireless router and it being password protected and all, but it was super easy!

You can find many, many movies available for instant viewing through your Roku, but what is also awesome is that if you find movies you want to watch, and they are not available for the instant viewing, then you can add it to your Queue and you will receive that movie on DVD through Netflix.

As of right now I believe we have forty movies added to our instant queue, and a few TV show season! I have been addicted to watching CSI for about a week straight now!

Want a new, fun and affordable way for you and your family to stay entertained without breaking the bank. Is the current state of the economy forcing you to curtail those movie night outings? Do you need a way to keep the kids occupied while enjoying some “you time”? How about a quiet and inexpensive night in?

Roku, a leading innovator in digital media technology, is providing families with a fun and affordable alternative to home entertainment. Roku has teamed up with Netflix to offer customers the ability to instantly watch more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes, including new releases and hundreds of options in HD, streamed directly to your TV. The best part, if you are like most Netflix customers and on a Netflix Unlimited plan (any plan that costs $8.99 a month or more); there are no limits to how much you can watch instantly.

The Roku Player is surprisingly easy to use and simple to integrate into any home entertainment system. All it takes is connecting the player to any TV and to the Internet. For homes with wireless Internet connectivity, the player is Wi-Fi enabled and offers the ultimate in placement flexibility. With the player’s accompanying remote control, members can browse and make selections right on the TV screen and also have the option to pause, rewind or play anytime just like a DVD.
