It is fun to plant grass seeds with children because it grows so fast and the children can watch it. One project I used to do was take a plain paper cup and let the child make a face on it; then we planted grass seed inside the cup and the grass grew to form hair.

Those are really cute! We actually planted a bunch of our seedling this way. We have chickens, so there is no shortage of egg shells. We planted all of our vegetable starts in the egg shell halves, and then transplant them (egg and all)into the ground. It adds calcium to the soil, and is just a great way to get your seeds stared.
