I also feel like I am doing laundry twice as much with the baby here! She goes through two sometimes three outfits a day, The kids sometimes go through two outfits a day now thanks to the Texas heat, and my husband goes through two outfits a day, but I don’t blame him being a sushi chef and all.
Here are a few tips I live by to make my laundry routine go faster, that way I have more time to spend with the kids instead of doing laundry all day long:
- Get Help! – my girls love helping me sort laundry. I show them how to put the clothes in piles based on their colors. Sarah loves to sort laundry.
- Make a Calender - Each week I do certain chores while the kids are in school. Tuesday is usually my big morning of mopping, sweeping, dishes and anything else from Sunday and Monday that needs to be straightened up. Sometimes before Shelby wakes up in the morning I can get the kitchen cleaned, a load of laundry done and the floor mopped. IF she takes a mid morning nap I can fold and put away laundry. Thursday and Friday I designate as bathroom cleaning days. I am able to get everything done before the kids get home.
- Put away as you go - this is probably the worst part. folding and putting away. I enlist the girls half the time to help me fold their own clothes, and then they help put away their own clothes.
Of course having a Energy Star high-efficiency washer and dryer like the Whirlpool Duet set makes laundry so much easier! The washer uses 83% less water and also 85% less energy. Did you know the combined lifetime savings for these two is averaged to be over $3,000. Now that is some great savings!
