Shopping Challenge at AJ Wright
On Wednesday May 19th I headed out to Norwalk California for a really fun Shopping Challenge and to check out the all new AJ Wright Store. I have been to an AJ Wright store before and it was crowded, you couldn’t get through the isles with your shopping cart and everything was so disorganized I couldn’t find anything I was looking for. I left feeling disappointed.
I was really excited to see the newly redesigned store and see all that had changed from the last design. Boy I was impressed!
AJWright is a sister-store in the TJX family and sells off-price family apparel, home fashions, footwear, toys, and more. Prices are typically 20-70% below regular prices. The rep. who gave us a tour of the new store described the three stores as follows:
T.J. Maxx is like shopping at Banana Republic, Marshalls to Gap, and AJWright to Old Navy. All of which are awesome stores!!
As we went on a tour the store, we learned that many of the AJWright stores have been redesigned with increased lighting and fun, brighter colors to enhance the visual aesthetic of the store. AJWright stores differ from Marshalls and T.J. Maxx in that they’re more local and feature location-specific merchandise. Which means that they carry items for that specific demographics (which is probably why it was really hard for me to find things I personally liked.) The redesign also features wider isles, so you can push your shopping cart with your child in tow through the isles and not get stuck. They also added a darker strip of linoleum on the floor which they described as a “race track” so you can go all the way around the entire store and still hit every section of the store. They also placed those must have items (like underwear and socks) on the outside of the isles so you can quickly grab what you need and go.
Our challenge was to find the best deals on merchandise we like to shop for, utilizing the $100 gift card they provided. I knew going in I wanted to get jeans and some underwear. So the very first thing I did was go check out the jeans! I found the cutest jeans ever and snagged them up… They were only $9.99!!! I normally spend $75 dollars for jeans at Gap and these look exactly like my Gap jeans! I also found some jean shorts, which happen to be YMI Jeans for only $12.99! I also bought a package of underwear which were in my size yet when I took them out of the packaging they were so small they fit Samantha!
I found a really cute dress for Samantha which I plan to save for school in the fall and the cutest gingham black and white top with cap sleeves for Sarah. I also got some new towels, a dish drying rack (check out the red base) and a new hair brush!
Total spent = $102.65
I went over by a few dollars but I really wanted those hair bands!

Ah! I need to find an AJ Wright store! It looks like you got a ton of stuff for a margin of the price!
I used to work near Norwalk – I’ll have to check the store out
This is my dh’s favorite store. Clothing is the only area of his life where he enjoys bargain shopping.
I wish we had one of these in our area, thanks for sharing your great finds!
We don’t have this store in our area:(.
Wow, good job! I’ll have to check out if they have a store near me.
