Pregnancy Week 33

I had my 33 week appointment this week. Everything was great, half a pound weight gain, great blood pressure and measured right on track…. but baby has decided to turn breech on us. So many things went running through my head, the word “breech” is scary to pregnant moms. We are basically told you must have a c-section with a breech baby.  The good thing we still have lots of time for her to flip head down and to avoid an external version.

Nothing new this past week. I don’t feel like my tummy has grown over the past few weeks, but I did notice a change in Shelby’s movements. I also know when she will be the most active during the day as well.

Your Baby in Week 33 of Pregnancy

Your baby is still gaining weight (about half a pound a week), and she could grow up to another full inch this week. With that much baby inside your uterus, your amniotic-fluid level has maxed out, which explains why some of her pokes and kicks feel pretty sharp these days. (There’s less fluid to cushion the blows.) Antibodies are being passed from you to your little one as she continues to develop her own fetal immune system, which will come in handy once she’s outside the womb and fending off all sorts of germs.

  1. Thinking of you a lot this weekend Mandy, and hoping things will “turn around” soon there! You look so tiny kiddo, I had such a Budda belly with all my kids. LOL! Oh my gosh, the weeks are going so fast now. Just 5 weeks till Valentines Day! So happy for you it will be soon you will be holding your newest little honey!

    1. Thanks Eileen! It’s been emotionally draining for me. I am anxious for my 36 week ultrasound. Of course I want to enjoy these two weeks pf pregnancy but I want it to go fast at the same time to find out if she has settled head down yet. It’s like a catch 22 right now. I want the time to go slow so I can enjoy this last month but then I want the time to go fast so we can figure out the next steps IF she hasn’t flipped back. sigh…

  2. Breech is so scary, especially in our culture where we’re told it’s an automatic c-section like you said. I was so happy my baby girl was head-down at her 21 week ultrasound…but I realize that at that point she is still turning somersaults 😛 I hope your baby girl flips back soon!

  3. Oh my! I really hope that your baby can still manage to turn her head upside down. However, you should prepare yourself if ever you’ll be at the C-section. But there are a lot of ways to help your baby especially if it’s still about 37 weeks. You can consult your doctor for a external cephalic version.
