Pregnancy Week 19

Tomorrow I hit 20 weeks! Finally the halfway point. I keep thinking to myself “another 5 weeks and she has a chance for viability”. I think any mom who has had a loss, no matter at waht stage in pregnancy they always think “we just have to make it to viability”…..

So this week hasn’t been much different. Except for two things…. I have felt miss Shelby move more (yay!!) and I started getting the comments that I finally look pregnant.

Last week I had a midwife appt and found out I had lost weight, so that puts my weight total at 1lb. I am measuring smaller than I did a month ago which she was totally fine with. Now I am measuring perfectly on tract!

Your Baby in Week 19 of Pregnancy

Your baby’s sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don’t be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 9 inches, head to bottom . Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

  1. So glad all is going well. We had a little one born in our family (a nephew and his wife) and she was born at 26 weeks and is now a strong and completely adorable little girl! It amazes me! The Lord AND modern medicine is good!

  2. Congrats! My daughter was born at 29 weeks and she is fine and having a baby of her own now. Take care of your self and rest as much as you can 🙂
