New Year’s Eve: Noise Makers

This year I wanted to do something fun for the girls for new year’s Eve. It will just be us (unless we go to my inlaws house). So I thought it would be fun to create a little goodie bag for the girls to ring in 2012 with!

I decided to first start with Noise makers. These are so easy to make, and there are tons of different variations of them.

What you need:

  • empty Paper Towel Roll
  • 12 x 12 sheet of colored or patterned paper/construction paper
  • scotch tape
  • rice or beans
  • something circular to trace circles with

Start with your 12 x 12 sheet of paper and cut a 6 x 6 square out for the “wrapper” of your Noise Maker.

Fold over the part of the paper left from the cutout. Trace your circle and cut them out. By folding the paper out you get 2 (or more if you stack paper like I did). You cna use any size circle as long as it’s bigger than the Paper Towel Roll.

I am making two Noise makers so I have 2 (6×6) squares and 4 circles.

Next take one circle and wrap it over the top of the Paper Towel Roll and using either scotch tape or masking tape tape the circle firmly around the Roll. Basically your just folding and making it as neat as possible.

Add rice/beans or whatever you found to make noise into the Paper Towel Roll.

Add the top circle and tape it down.

After both ends are sealed off, roll your 6×6 paper around the roll and seal together with scotch tape.

And your done! Give them to the kids and let them shake their Noise Makers!
