My girls love to read, and they get very excited when American Girl comes out with new titles.
Samantha is a huge fan of the Mystery Collections and couldn’t wait to read The Cameo Necklace: A Cécile Mystery. quite a few of the Historical Dolls have their own Mystery books. These books are a great addition to the Doll’s Book Collection. Girls get the chance to learn even more about the Historical Dolls and these Chapter Books are perfect for girls who want more to read than the regular size books.
Sarah wanted to read The New Girl. She is a fan of Innerstar University and as an early reader loves to find books that are fun to read but also still has pictures throughout the book. I think that books that have pictures for the younger kids helps them get into the story and allows them to picture what they are reading. It’s a super cute story and perfect for teaching girls about the decisions they make in life.
We also love that American Girl is adding new books to their Smart Girl’s Guide Collection. I grew up reading The Smart Girl’s Guide books and love that they are about helping girls with their self esteem and personal life as well. One of the new books is A Smart Girl’s Guide to Liking Herself which is perfect for Samantha now and Sarah in a year or so. Samantha is at that age where peer pressure is a huge deal and she needs to know how important it is to be yourself and to stick up for yourself.
All three books are great for girls ages seven and up and with Easter around the corner make great Easter Basket Gifts.

The Cameo Necklace: A Cécile Mystery
As Cécile exits a crowded showboat after enjoying a lavish Floating Circus, she stumbles—and when she gets up, she realizes that the cameo necklace she borrowed from her aunt is no longer on her neck. Knowing that the necklace was the last gift Tante Tay’s husband gave her before he died, Cécile is desperate to find it. As she tracks down the people in the crowd who were near her when she fell, her search takes her into many corners of New Orleans, from a society tea party to the crowded French Market, even the dangerous cypress swamps…and deep into secrets she never imagined! An illustrated “Looking Back” essay provides facts about the 1850s.
