Awesome New Site: Momologie *Giveaway*

Momologie Daily is brought to you by Michele Adams and Gia Russo, collectively known as the MiGi Girls, proud moms who draw from their own experiences as designers, magazine editors and business women.

Michele and Gia met while working as editors for Martha Stewart Living and moved to Los Angeles to form their own company over a decade ago. Their fresh and unique style to everyday living has been featured all over the media and in their books. If you haven’t heard of their company before, it is MiGi Style. MiGi Style is fun, fresh and can match any home decor. Not to mention affordable!

Michele and Gia also recently launched Momologie.  Momologie is a resource that is practical, smart and credible so that every mom, no matter what her life is like, will find it useful. 

Michele & Gia admit that even though they’ve built their careers on good taste and practical advice, they still need lots of help to keep things running smoothly. Every day, they rely on the advice of friends, neighbors and family, and spend as much time as any mom trying to find answers to all of their questions online. Yet they have not found that one resource that feels like a reliable best friend.

Momologie is a daily newsletter. By signing up for it you will receive the daily tips and also updates about giveaways and promotions they are doing. I have been a newsletter subscriber for about three weeks now and love the tips I get daily. These tips are perfect for women and all moms (young or old).     Love the ‘prep in advance’ as much as possible and freeze side dishes so you have less work on the actual day. This was focused on keeping it clean while I think it also keeps us sane by lessening the pressure.

    I am taking their tip to heart as we speak. NOT to get overwhelmed when having company or making a special dinner for guests or family…prepare what you can ahead and keep ahead of the mess. I have made what I can ahead of our THanksgiving meal, frozen some things and making the ‘base’ of stuffing, salad, and veggies today. Tonight will make pies. THAT way I can cleanup ahead of the big day and not be so stressed doing the main meal “pieces” and fill ins. Might even have time for a BATH!!!

    I subscribed and I read to Bring the outdoors in by burning a woodsy candle. Soy wax candles are economical because they burn for hours and the scent fills a space quickly.

    I loved the candle wax tip, I know you have to use an ice cube then scrape, but theres always small amounts left over that I can never get to, this site suggested placing paper bags under and over the item you want the wax off and ironing until it transfers to the paper bags. Ingenious!

    Lots of great tips! I liked this one the best: If you’re lucky enough to have a separate dining room or an area where you can set a large folding table that won’t be disturbed, then you can set it ahead of time so you’re not rushing at the last minute.

    To save time, prep potatoes (peel and cut) the day before and store in a pot filled with water in the refrigerator to keep them from turning brown… I didn’t know that!!! I always wondered if there was a way to pre-cut potatoes. Good to know!

    A Travel Tote is ideal for road trips. Organize toys, art supplies and snacks so they’re easy for the kids to find and use. A Velcro strap attaches to a seatbelt to keep it all in place….i liked this one.

    Organize books by size. Stack books vertically and horizontally to create even lines and an aesthetic pleasing to the eye.

    My favorite tip is about shelves -

    Don’t overcrowd. Give the eye a break by leaving space for pretty objects, picture frames and interesting artifacts you’ve collected.

    One tip I liked is when hosting a Holiday dinner, Prep as much as you can in advance and freeze some side dishes, so you’ll have less work that day. I also signed up for the newsletter!

    Save the peels from citrus you’ve used for dinner preparation, and grind in your disposal to deodorize naturally, or pour some baking soda down the drain to get rid of smells.
