Back in August American Girl debuted the newest Historical Character Doll, Caroline.
Caroline’s debut will inspire today’s girls with stories of courage and kindness as she becomes a true hero by giving of herself without expecting anything in return. Caroline is a 9-year-old girl growing up near Lake Ontario (Sackets Harbor) during the War of 1812.
Caroline launched with six historical books written by Kathleen Ernst of Wisconsin. The first is “Meet Caroline,” in which her father, a shipbuilder, is taken prisoner by the British.
American Girl is excited to launch a character whose story takes place exactly 200 years ago and shows girls today how to stay steady and believe in themselves during difficult times. `
As soon as my girls learned about the new Historical Doll they went crazy. They loved her long blond hair in the big curls. What little girl doesn’t love her beautiful pink dress?
American Girl describes Caroline as an “independent and adventurous 9-year-old girl whose story is set near Lake Ontario during the War of 1812 … Going above and beyond to help those around her, Caroline gives of herself without expecting anything in return — becoming the kind of real everyday hero that any girl can be.”
You can join in the fun of this new Historical Girl release by entering Caroline’s Share the Hero in You video contest! Through October 31, 2012, girls can submit a video clip describing a time they felt like an everyday hero. The grand-prize winner will receive a trip for 4 to Washington DC, a Caroline doll, books and accessories, an extra-special day at the American Girl Store, and a VIP tour of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History!
