It’s a New Year and time for a New YOU!

I will admit, the past two months have been crazy for me. I can’t believe it has been two months at the same time! Two months ago I found out I was pregnant… and sadly a short few weeks later I miscarried. In those short few weeks, we were so excited to add another baby to our fmaily. To complete our family. When I lost the baby I became almost depressed. But after a few weeks I picked myself up and said “life has to go on!”

So with 2011…. I have only two goals this year. My first is to have another baby. We know it is the right time and want to add another baby, but in order to do that I want to loose 30 lbs first.

Why 30 lbs you say? Well, that would put me at the weight I was when I became pregnant with Sarah. I had an easy pregnancy, easy L&D and I did loose the weight I had gained with her quickly. Unfortunately through the past 5 years I have put it all back on. I will admit I put the weight back on because I was lazy. I ate like crap and didn’t exercise.

So my goal, is to loose 30 lbs before TTC. Now, we wont stop TTC because we already struggle with infertility but with a goal for me in the end I am confident I will get to my goal and hopefully quickly. (and when I saw quickly I mean the right way, eating healthy and exercising).

I would love any advice anyone has for me. I have a treadmill and have been running a mile each day on it. I would like to up that up to 2 miles. I also work 3 days a week where I am on my feet and walking around for 2 hours straight.

So this year I don’t have New Year Resolutions. I have two goals. and in order to reach one I have to reach the other!

  1. You can do it Amanda…BOTH goals! I am in the same boat, not with the family adding but the weight…I guess I would say slow and steady wins the race. Start out at a reasonable level and add to it little by little. You will be doing MORE than 2 miles before you know it. And easier said than not about laying off on the crappy food. Just keep in mind that every healthy thing you put IN your body, puts you in much better shape to feed a new little darling…SOON we hope! The 2-3 months B4 a pregnancy to get healthy is almost as important as DURING. Read up on the vitamins, etc you need as extra’s to gear your body up for YOU and a new baby. (especially when losing weight and eating differently!) Good luck sweetie!

  2. I would highly recommend Weight Watchers. I lost 77 pounds using their “program” – you can eat any food (so there are no restrictions like other diets which is why WW is so successful). It’s all about portion control, accountability for what you eat and calculating your points (it’s kind of like counting calories but I much prefer counting points instead). I’m back on WW myself because after losing all that weight I bece pregnant and gained 50 pounds and then I got terribly sick andy medicine cause a HUGE weight gain. So far I’ve been back on WW for 4 weeks and I’ve already lost 14 pounds!

    You can definitely lose the weight! So no matter how you go about it I wish you the very best!

  3. You can do it! I’m impressed that you can run a mile! I can only go 1/2 before I have to stop. I try to run as long as I can and then walk the rest until I get to 3 miles. I’d love to be able to run a 5K but I’ve got to work up to running more. How did you get to the point where you can run a mile? Did you just add a little gradually? I’ve tried the run a minute, walk a minute, run a minute alternation, but after about 7 total running times, I have to just walk.

  4. My advice would be don’t get so obsessed with the numbers. I was getting impatient that the weight was not falling off fast enough doing p90x but was reminded by my DH that I was building muscle and losing inches. After being on it for a month and losing almost 30 lbs I got preggo w/ #4 big shock esp since we weren’t trying. And if you have a bad day there is always tomorrow to start back where you left off.

  5. That sounds great Amanda! I don’t have any resolutions either, just to start living healthier. But I’m really impressed that you are running a mile every day. I can’t even run 5 yards.

    Wow! You are quite a strong woman and I admire you a lot. I know you can do it and will be excited for you as you meet your two goals. 😉

  6. You are on the right track and everyone has great input! I lost 30# by just eating portions. I even ate some “crap” every now and then, but not too often because your body starts to crave the good stuff. Just need chocolate once a month 😉

    I walked a mile 3X/wk and only ate the recommended portion. The 1st week was hard training my body to only eat what it needed, then it was a piece of cake. I still only eat the portion, but I’m not exercising so I’m stuck. But I’m inspired by you and all these wonderful ladies. I will do it with you!

    I want to gain at least 35 lbs this year.
