When Samantha joined Girl Scouts back in Kindergarten I never realized how much she would learn or how much her self esteem would grow.
Last year Samantha switched troops. At first I was nervous about learning a new troop but it was one of the best things because I adore her troop and all the girls/parents. I can’t believe all of the amazing activities her Troop Leader gets the girls involved in. Samantha’s Leader is about teaching the girls life skills and becoming confident young adults.
Sarah also joined an amazing troop where I get to be a parent committee member! I have completed Basic Leader training and am beyond excited about my new role with her troop.
What I have seen over the years from my girls in Girl Scouts is the life long lessons they are learning and the friendships they have created. They get so excited about meetings and the fun activities their troops do. I am beyond impressed with my girl’s Troop Leaders and how much time and effort they put into my kids.
Girl Scouting is the place for girls to have fun and try new experiences such as turning ordinary household items into robots, convincing the mayor to install a swing for special needs children in a park, or hiking the Appalachian Trail. Seeing my older girl (now a Junior) learn how to pitch a tent and her troop getting 3rd place for it was so awesome! Samantha also learned how to tie knots and how to cook food in a box with the outside heat.
That is why I wanted to join on in any way these leaders need me. If they need to help chaperon the troop, I am there. Or to create a Kaper Chart, they can count on me! I couldn’t wait to join Girl Scouts as an Adult and one day I will be a Leader for Shelby!
