Holiday 2011: Holidays with Hallmark

Hallmark holds a very special place in my heart. Growing up I always looked forward to what new Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments my Aunt had bought for that year and how special it was for all of us to decorate the tree together. I still remember as we would pull out the ornaments we would reminisce on where it came from and we would laugh and sing. It was such a wonderful family activity that we all truly enjoyed.

Now that we all have our own families we have continued those traditions in our own homes. Going out and picking a family tree to singing and laughing while we decorate the tree. In our home as we pull out those special ornaments I always smile at each one because they have special meaning….. and that is what Hallmark is about!

This year I picked two very special Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. I instantly fell in love with the  Santa Comes to Town. The very first thing I noticed was that the bottom said “2011” which I LOVE because I will always know the year we got each ornament. This beautiful ornament is done by artist Ken Crow and it captures the tradition of paying a visit to Santa while shopping for the holiday. Once turned on it plays “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and  the scene illuminate as the train circles and Santa greets children.

Another ornament I knew my girls would also love is the Rapunzel Tangled Keepsake Ornament. Every year we always add some kind of Disney Princess ornament so it seemed only fitting to add Tangled to our collection! Another ornament that will hold special memories of the girls and I cuddling on the couch watching the super cute movie.

Hallmark has a couple of interactive ways to bring story time to life this holiday season – the  Jingle the Husky Pup Interactive Storybook and Story Buddy responds with a bark, whimper or song when key phrases are read from his corresponding book.

You might have seen the adorable commercial for Jingle the Husky Pup and both my girls were so excited to see how he barks in cue with the book.

Jingle the Husky Pup comes with the first in his series of Interactive
Storybooks, Jingle All the Way.

About the story: Once there was a good little dog named Jingle, who did whatever he was told. But without an owner, there was one thing he couldn’t do: go home. Finally, Jingle’s good behavior and friendship are rewarded, as a boy who wants a dog and a dog who needs a home find each other.

And whether you’re far away or side-by-side, you can always share a Christmas story with loved ones with Hallmark Recordable Storybooks. This year, Hallmark Recordable Storybooks not only record a reader’s voice directly into the book; they now feature music. You can read or sing one of six holiday classics —including three new titles —and participate in holiday story time with loved ones even if distance causes them to be apart.

Lastly, another fun way to add family memories this Holiday season is with the Merry-Okee. Whether your family carols around the neighborhood or just enjoys singing holiday songs, you may enjoy Merry-Okee — a microphone that comes with six songs and changes your voice to sound like an elf.

Change your voice to sound like an elf—a fun activity for the whole family!
This Christmas karaoke microphone features 6 pre-recorded holiday songs to sing along to—“O Christmas Tree,” “Deck the Halls,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” “Jingle Bells,” “Jolly Old St. Nick” and “Up on the Housetop.”

Includes a song book with original lyrics, and parody lyrics to add to the  silliness.  The Merry-Okee is perfect during the Holidays. Bring it out each Christmas and laugh the nights away.

And Hallmark wants to share an early holiday gift with you, 20% off personalized greetings (minimum purchase $20) at www.hallmark.com. Spread holiday cheer by sharing this discount code SOCIAL20 (valid 11/1/11 – 1/1/12).
