Holiday 2010: American Girl Felicity Doll *Giveaway closed*
I was 9 years old when I was introduced to American Girl Books. At the time, there was Felicity, Kirsten, Samantha and Molly. In 1993 Addy joined in and I remember seeing her for the first time in the catalogues. Soon after they started adding new characters and girls throughout America got to learn about our Nation’s Past!
Felicity caught my eye from the moment I read her first book. Maybe it was the fiery red hair or her spunky go lucky attitude. None the less, Felicity Merriman was my favorite.
Felicity, a spirited girl living in Williamsburg, VA, in 1774, has captured girls’ imaginations with her compelling story of strength and determination in Colonial America. Countless girls have found a friend in Felicity while learning about the trials and triumphs of growing up at the start of the Revolutionary War, from saving a beautiful horse named Penny to learning how to be a proper gentlewoman.
I will admit I was sad to hear that Felicity will be retired, and in a way felt a tiny piece of me was being locked away too. Felicity’s strong will and courage was something I always looked up to as a little girl, and maybe some how she has helped me become the woman and mom I am today. I still own those books I read many years ago, and have passed my American Girl obsession onto my own daughters. Felicity will always hold a special place in my heart. Whenever I was feeling sad I used to read her books to make me happy. I used to pretend to be in her world and her friend. Felicity was a comfort to me.
Yes, Samantha is so much like the American Girl Samantha Parkington. Who is a bright, compassionate girl living with her wealthy grandmother in 1904. It’s an exciting time of change in America, and Samantha’s world is filled with frills and finery, parties and play. But Samantha sees that times are not good for everybody. That’s why she tries to make a difference in the life of her friend Nellie, a servant girl whose life is nothing like Samantha’s! Samantha was retired in 2008. And although my Samantha is jsut learning about American Girls, she will always love Samantha Parkington… as I Felicity Merriman!
Another item the girls and I collect are the different American Girl Movies! You love the books—now watch your favorite characters in full-length movies that the whole family can enjoy. These movies bring the dolls to life, and allows little girls to get a real sense of the characters they have grown to love!
Through the Christmas season you can purchase Felicity online at AmericanGirl.com or in any American Girl store. Get this classic doll before she’s gone. And the perfect gift for any American Girl on your list.

American Girl is going to offer one lucky little girl her wish. One winner will receive a Felicity doll, and one book.

To enter, this is simple, I want to know about your American Girl. Who will get this prize, and why will she like it? What on her wish list this year? Who’s her favorite American Girl? Or tell me about the American Girl who you remember most.

My daughter would be the recipient of this doll. She loves history, playing her cello, reading and playing with her dolls. Felicity has been on her wishlist ever since she heard she was being retired. The only thing she ever plays with are her American Girl dolls, of which her favorite is Jessie, which was the doll of the year a couple of years ago. The other things on her wishlist include a lot of books, some fabric so she can design clothes for her dolls, and she wants her Jessie dolls ears pierced.

My little american girl is 4 and she is carring around the catalogue like it’s a warm cozy blanket. She knows when the were all born and loves their pj’s!
My daughter is very much a girly girl and would absolutely LOVE this doll! She just got the American Girl doll catalog in the mail last week and even though she doesn’t have a doll yet, she was doing a lot of shopping for doll clothes and furniture!
I don’t think she has a favorite doll and even though she is only 4 I’m sure she will treasure this if she were to receive it as a gift!

This doll would be for my 9 year old daughter. Felicity is her favorite, because they both love horses, and next to AG dolls, my daughter’s passion for horses is limitless. She dreams of living like Felicity on a ranch and owning her own horse. We have all the AG movies, but Felicity is watched frequently. My daughter has AG size horses, tack, and a barn, but no Felicity. I didn’t grow up with AG dolls as we weren’t well to do, but I’ve loved introducing them to my daughter. I have purchased a couple of previously-loved AG dolls on eBay for her to enjoy (none are Felicity), as well as the Felicity book set to read, and she loves them dearly, but she would be so thrilled to get a brand new doll of her favorite character!
My little American Girl is my little one – she is 4 years old and loves dolls! she has a bitty baby now, but I think she is ready for a BIG girl AG!! She loves Kaya!
I would like to enter the Felicity giveaway contest. My daughter, Hope would love to receive Felicity for Christmas. Her favorite American Girl is Felicity’s friend, Elizabeth. She picked Elizabeth out on her birthday trip to the American Girl store in Chicago two years ago. Her Dad is overseas in the military and will not be home to share Christmas with us so Felicity would certainly bring a smile to my daughter’s face. Hope’s wish list for this Christmas includes a DSi, a Wii game and earrings for her newly pierced ears-and of course, to have Daddy home.
My daughter has Elizabeth and would love to have her friend Felicity before she’s gone!
My American Girl is my daughter, Kelly. She’s a little grown-up for dolls now, at age 13, but she still takes care of dolls she has (along with their accessories, etc.). Her favorite American Girls have been Molly and Marisol.

I have a 7 year old daughter who wants American Girl Doll plus bed and camper for Christmas this year. I did not have American Girl Doll when growing up. I told her that her wish list is expensive this year. She would hopefully get American Girl Doll but the other items may have to wait awhile. Thanks for the chance to win the American Girl Doll.

My 7 yr old daughter would be the recipient of Felicity should I win. She just got her first American Girl for her birthday. She chose a My American Girl that looks like her. My Mom and I went in together on it, she LOVES her doll, and that’s putting it lightly, she has check out a few of the American Girl books from the library and loves to read them. Her favorite so far is Samantha, but she hasn’t read the Felicity stories yet. On her wishlist this year is a ‘friend’ for her AG doll, she’s just sure that Emily(her doll) needs someone to play w/. She would LOVE Felicity because she loves her clothes, all her pretty dresses are a big hit w/ my daughter, and she(my DD) also loves horses so the fact that Felicity has a horse is a good thing too. Thanks for the chance to win this doll, it’s a very generous offer.
My 8 year old daughter loves the American Girl Dolls and if I won, I’d give this to her. One of these dolls are on top of her list. Also the horse that American Girl Dolls sells too. Thanks so much.

Ellie is my American girl and though she doesn’t yet have an American Girl doll of her own, she longs for one. We are enjoying reading the AG short stories that she has been checking out from the school library. Since we are just getting to know the American Girls, she does not yet have a favorite. I look forward to starting the “Meet…” series with her, maybe over the Christmas holiday. Thanks for this chance to win!

I would love to give Felicity to my daughter and introduce her to American Girl. Felicity seems like a great way to teach history to children and my daughter would love her because she is so beautiful.
I am so saddened that they are getting rid of so many of the original girls. I remember spending many hours as a child reading the books, and examining the catalogues so closely! I am not sure if I had just one favorite–the personalities, looks, clothes, etc. of each “girl” were so unique–although I dearly loved Kirsten’s braids! I must say that the American girl dolls and books were one of the very few things that interested me in history as a child, and I spent many years thinking of time periods by matching them with the appropriate girl!
I remember that Felicity in particular taught some wonderful lessons about self-reliance and integrity, and loving your family and friends even when you may not agree (although to be honest, poor Kirsten’s stories always stuck with me most closely–her best friend dying on the ship to America, the accidental fire that burned down the cabin, etc).
If I won Felicity, I would give her to my cousin’s baby girl, to look at for now and play with as she gets old enough, and hopefully to spark her interest in history a bit!

My Princess R. loves her Rebecca doll. We would love to have Felicity too, especially as she is retiring, but we are actually entering in hopes of winning Felicity for a friend who does not have a doll so the girls can play with their dolls together.

My daughter loves American Girl dolls, and is has Addy. She really enjoyed reading about the history of Addy and the time period she grew up in. She has been wanting Felicity as well.
I have three daughters (ages 9,7 and 5). We are wanting to get them their first American Girl Dolls this year because that is on top of their list. They currently own the Our Generation dolls from Target. Right now, they would love to have Lanie, Rebecca, Felicity and Josephina. If I won, it would help make part of their Christmas dreams come true!!

My daughter loves American Girl. She is 11 and in 6th grade and some people think she is too old for
Dolls but all she says is “Never grow up it will ruin you.” She really wants her but we cant afford her this christmas.
This would be for my niece! Samantha is her favorite American girl, but I know she likes the Felicity books as well!
My 7 soon to be 8 year old right after Christmas on the 30th would get this doll. We have had the American Girl catalogue coming to our house, seems like EVERY WEEK. Of course she has gone through and written her name on everything thing she wants out of it. She keeps saying you think Santa will bring me this, and this, and this, and this….you get the picture. I say I don’t know but I know we can’t afford it. So This would be great if I could win. I think Abby would Love it, she has always been the little mommy of the house and plays with her babies, which most are ones of mine when I was growing up! Her Wish list is pretty short actually, The American Girl doll, a bike, a pillow pet, and a snuggie. I got everything covered except the Doll! The Pillow Pet came in today, bought it off ebay! I think she she marked the Doll Savannah and Addy alot in the book, which she isn’t getting two, that’s for sure!

The doll would be for my little girl named Macy . She loves the american dolls. I feel really bad for her because she has only one american girl doll , and the hair is coming out. I couldn’t get a refund , because she keeps saying “ don’t send her back ! She only needs to go to the hair salon ! ” . Her hair salon is a pair of scissors and a used brush , and the oils will ruin her hair . I just say , don’t take her to the hair salon , I will try to fix her hair myself , but in my heart , I honesty have tried evrything I can think of . She really want’s Felicity . I can’t afford to buy her a brand new Felicity doll , and this would really help . I just can’t imagine saying to her , I don’t think I can fix her , and I can’t get another doll. It would break her little heart. Thanks for having this contest. It means the world to me , because she loves dolls , and if they make her happy , then I am happy . The website is my daughters , just to let you know . I don’t have any time to make one if I wanted to anyway . well anyway , thanks !
American Girl has done it right! I wish there was something like American Girl when I was growing up. I love that My 4 year old has something that is such a treasure. She has a just like me doll and loves her to pieces. She is eager to learn to read so she can start reading all the book by herself. She is getting Lanie for x-mas and would love to have Felicity to add to her collection.
My daughter Abby has a special fondness for Felicity as we live very close to Williamsburg and have sought out the places where we think Felicity may have grown up, lived, spent time with her family, and rode her beautiful horse Penny. Abby’s first experience with American Girls were the Felicity book series before she was ond enough to have her own dollie. We spent many nights reading over those bigs and have moved on to the wonderful Felicity Movie. It is honeslty our favorite movie to watch. The values that Felicity exhibits in these stories are ones we strive to uphold and the lessons are so very important. Abby does not have Felicity and we never thought we would run out of time to get her. She seems like one of the Favorites. It is so important to hold our countries history dear and we were both surprised that this Doll would be retired. My American Girl, Abby is a wonderful 10 real old who is active in her school chorus and in gymnastics. She has every American Girl book on how to make friends, how to have self confidence, how to take care of yourself and reads them religiously. She is an artist and a reader and always has time for people in need. She is known to dig through my wallet to give change to those who need it and also goes through her own toys and gives things away before Christmas to those kids who may not have all that she has. We started this when our children were little and are so pleased to see our daughter growing into an American Girl who takes pride in her country, in her community and in herself. I just know she would love love love to have Felicity sleeping next to her every night! I only hope she realizes that Penny doesnt come with her. That will have to wait for a long long time, or at least until her Daddy gets out of the Military.
My daughter and I were at the American Girl store in MN for the first time this weekend. She has been saving her money for 4 years to buy a doll. She has asked Santa every year, but Santa is on a very tight budget. She believes he won’t bring her one because he wants her to pick out the one she wants herself at the store. It still brings tears to my eyes.
I would LOVE to give my 9 yr old this doll because every day she offers me some of her money to pay the bills I can’t, but I won’t take a penny. I want to give her something back for her unconditional love and understanding. She is my heart and soul and I love her VERY, VERY MUCH.

I have a 7 year old daughter named Isabella who will turn 8 in March and she is my “American Girl”. Topping her wish list this year is the American Girl doll. She has been asking for this doll for 2 years now, but I was never sure that she was mature enough to take care of it. She still plays with her baby dolls and has proved to me that she is now responsible enough to have such a beautiful doll. When she received the latest catalog in the mail, she asked me once again if I could buy her a doll. She explained to me that in school there is an American Girl Bookclub and anyone who has an American Girl Doll is allowed to bring their doll in to class with them. She was so excited to tell me about the bookclub that I have finally been convinced that this doll is the doll for her. Because of the bookclub, she has become interested in the story behind the doll and we have been having so much fun learning about the historical characters. I think my daughter is really enjoying Julie’s story because my husband has taken a new job out of state and we are preparing to move to a new place where she will have to adjust to some of the same changes Julie did.

My American Girl is my daughter, Anna. She is a creative, loving 7 year old who loves reading the American Girl books and imagining with her dolls. She recieved her first doll last Christmas (Elizabeth) and would love to have Elizabeth’s best friend to join her! Anna is fascinated with history and enjoys learning about how girls lived in the past in America. The books and dolls make historical events “real” to her. She is sad that Elizabeth and Felicity are going to be retired, and has asked for a few of their items for Christmas this year. We are all American Girl fans here and appreciate the quality and timelessness of these great dolls!

What a sweet contest! My daughter and I adore Felicity’s books and her movie.
If I were to win your contest, Felicity would go to my daughter. She has loved American Girl since she was five. She’s now eleven, and she still re-reads the books. My daughter would love this doll because she is intrigued by history and way girls of different time periods were so much like her and her friends. She likes to play school with her dolls, and I know Felicity would be a welcome addition to her classroom! Her favorite American Girl? Felicity, of course! She loves that Felicity has a horse. My daughter doesn’t have a horse. She/he wouldn’t fit in our backyard.

A new American Girl doll is on her list this year and to her, she just wants any of them…Santa’s pick!
My daughter, Aubrey, is fascinated with Felicity because we are blessed enough to be stationed close to Williamsburg, Va and she goes to school just down the street from where many of Felicity’s adventures took place! Felicity and Elizabeth are at the top of her Christmas wish list this year!
My niece has been clamoring for an American Girl Doll since last Christmas. My sister bought her a few books for her birthday and that has only made her want a doll more! Addy is her favorite but I know she would be thrilled to get Felicity!

To enter, this is simple, I want to know about your American Girl. Who will get this prize, and why will she like it? What on her wish list this year? Who’s her favorite American Girl? Or tell me about the American Girl who you remember most.
My American Girl is Emily! She will be 10 next week and is the proud owner of one American Girl “looks like me” doll–named Emma. Emma has been very special to Emily in the past year as she has provided special fun when Emily was hospitalized for lung infections from cystic fibrosis. She also loves horses and rides at a therapeutic horse center–so naturally, she loves Felicity! She saw the movie first, read a few books, and fell in love with her! And honestly, because Emily has to work so hard to stay healthy each day, she has the same spirit and determination as Felicity. Because her medicines to stay healthy are so costly, buying Felicity for her is out of the question right now, because naturally her health comes first! So, I would love, love, love, if my sweet Emily had a Felicity to call her own! Thanks!

My American girl is my 7 year old daughter. She is such a natural beauty just like the girls in the American Girl stories. I know that one of the things on her wish list is an American Girl. This would make her Christmas.

My american girl is my 6 yr. old daughter. She’s the sweetest kindest little thing. She doesn’t know anything about American Girl dolls because we haven’t introduced them to her because we don’t have the money. I’ve never had one and no one in my family has either. She loves dolls and stuffed animals though. She treats them just like little people. It’s so cute to watch. I know she would love to have one of these dolls. thank you
I entered on Kristin’s site! thanks again!

My daughter would love to get Felicity. She has 3 American girl dolls. Two were hand me downs and one she bought with her combined birthday and christmas money. She now wants another one for this Christmas and I can’t afford one.
My beautiful daughter Carolynn would love this prize. She is such a giving soul, she loves to help her parents, her siblings and her friends at school. She doesn’t have much on her Christmas list, she would like new mittens, a new doll and some clothes. She loves American girl catalogs, her favorite doll is Julie.

My mother, knowing that the American Girl Dolls were on my daughters’ Christmas wish list, bought Felicity and Samantha for them. My mom died of breast cancer later that year and my girls, now grown up, still cherish those dolls from their grandmother. My younger brother has daughter who is just four years old. She never knew her grandmother and I would love to give her
Felicity since I know my mom would have bought the doll for her had she still been her with us.

My american girl is my 8 yr. old daughter. All she has asked for this Christmas is an American girl doll I don’t think she has a particular one in mind. I think any of them would make her happy.

My 12 year old and 8 year old daughters are my American Girls! They love their dolls and enjoy playing with them together. They both want an American Girl for Christmas. I think they have more than one favorite American Girl doll. They would be so excited if they received Felicity for Christmas.

My daughter would get the doll. She’s been wanting an American Girl Doll for a few years now, so this would absolutely thrill her.

I would give this to my daughter. I think she would love it, it would be her first American Girl doll, and some of her friends have multiples of them.

This would be for my daughter. I absolutely loved American Girl Dolls when I was growing up- I love how they have a story behind them, and the’re own little personality. When I was little I had Kirsten & Samantha. I was lucky enough to have 2 of them, I would love to get this for my little one for Christmas…

This would actually go to my 13 year old. She has been wanting Felicity for over 6 years now & I have never been able to give it to her. I know she would cherish this doll, sitting on her shelf! Right now she has Marisol the dancer doll from 05 on display & would love to add Felicity!
