Getting Ready for Baby: Packing the Birth Bags

Get Ready for Baby Packing Birth Bag

I seriously ca’t believe that today I am 36 weeks pregnant! Who knows when this little guy will pick his birthday so we have decided to go ahead and pack up our bags and have them ready to go, plus doing them now if I forget anything I can easily add to it!

I am trying to keep it very minimal of what I need for both myself and for the baby. I hate over-packing and want to take the things I actually used with my previous births.

So for baby boy I decided on packing the same yellow ducky fleece footie that all three of my girls have worn. I love this footie so much and it will keep him warm traveling up to our cold mountain.

Baby’s Bag:

  • 2 outfits – one sleeper, one fleece footie.
  • 1 hat
  • binkies – probably wont need them but bringing them just in case.
  • thick blanket (which is what we hope will become his “blankie”)
  • swaddle blankets – Can’t wait to try out the Ollie Swaddle.
  • diapers and wipes – We are using disposable diapers for the meconium stage.
  • baby wash
  • baby comb

  1. I f you are not planning on nursing your baby I would also pack a couple of sports bras- they are good for suppressing lactation if you are not planning on breast feeding.

  2. You have it all covered! What a great way to prepare for baby! You also got everything you need for yourself for after the baby is born. I need to give this list to my sister. She can use the information in what she needs to pack for baby and herself!

  3. It is so important to be organized and have the mom and baby bag ready, always good to have a checklist so you don’t forget anything.

  4. The outfits are adorable. I always packed a small radio with headphones (of couse, that was before iPods). I don’t sleep well in the hospital and didnt want to wake a room mate with the tv.

  5. Sounds like you got it all covered and you’re ready to go. I love that you have the yellow ducky fleece footie that all three of your girls have worn for your son too.

  6. That’s a great list, good one about the hairband I would never have remembered that one. the clothes you have picked out are so cute!

  7. Oh that polka dot outfit is so cute!!! What a great list you have put together! Great for all mommies getting their bags ready to go! You always seem to forget something when in a hurry at the last minute!

  8. I’ve had 4 children and I never have a bag packed-lol. Our hospital always provided the diapers so you may want to save yours unless your brand specific. It’s good that you’re prepared.

  9. Great list! I had my baby girl 5 months ago, and I wayyyyyy overpacked. I didn’t use half the stuff I brought with me lol.

  10. i had the most simply packed bag. I found I didnt need much in the hospital so Im glad I didnt have to worry about making sure everything was there

  11. That’s a great list. I didn’t pack nearly as much stuff. I had my baby in the winter so I made sure I pack a thick jumper.
