Find a special time to talk #kotexmom

As your tween starts changing and her body changes she is going to start going through a lot of emotional and physical changes (obviously). One thing I have learned is that having special Mother-Daughter time is crucial!!!

While Sam has not gotten her first period, she knows girl get it. She told me a week ago she heard about girls talking about their period. We didn’t go into any more detail, she didn’t seem interested in knowing WHAT a period was… yet.

When it comes time to talk about it, I definitely think we should plan a whole day of shopping, lunch ad hanging out finishing the day with ice cream and talking at the park quietly, somewhere where we can be alone.

Of course I also want to ask her at the time where she would feel most comfortable, she may want to talk in her room or mine. And that’s ok with me!

Tweens also need their own personal hygiene products. Moms can put together fun little bags for their girls. Your daughter can throw in a few Kotex Tween Liners in as well.

Though many of us postpone the first period talk, U by Kotex has an abundance of online tools that foster an easier discussion with our daughters. offers an interactive calendar, advice from other Moms, helpful articles and Q&A sections.

*I wrote this review while participating in a Brand Ambassador Campaign by Mom Central on behalf of U by Kotex Tween and received products to facilitate my post and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

  1. I love the idea of planning an entire day with just mom and daughter that ends with “the talk” I think that’s a fabulous idea and it’s about that time for my 8yr old and I as well.
