Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 on Blu-ray & DVD

On November 30th, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released FANTASIA/FANTASIA 2000: 2-Movie Collection Special Edition. Experience the magical legacy of Disney! The unique combination of music and animation in FANTASIA and FANTASIA 2000 broke the boundaries of imagination! Introduce the kiddos to the animated musicals and dig deeper into the history of Disney with bonus material that includes a tour of the Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, CA and the highly acclaimed Walt Disney & Salvador Dali animated-short film collaboration, Destino!

The Fantasia and Fantasia 2000: 2-Movie Collection Special Edition will be available in a 4-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack ($45.99 SRP) and a 2-Disc DVD ($39.99 SRP) for a very limited time only. The Blu-ray transformation of Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 will reveal the magic, music and majesty of both films as never before experienced, with state- of-the-art picture restoration of the original Fantasia and pristine 7.1 Digital Theater System Hi-Def Surround Sound. The Blu-ray combo pack is a tremendous value featuring, in addition to the two films in two different formats, a wealth of bonus features.

Among those Blu-ray special features is the highly requested Academy Award® nominated short Destino. Available for the first time ever on Blu-ray, the seven minute film is the result of a unique collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali begun in 1946, but put on hold due to studio financial concerns. In 2003, Roy E. Disney worked with a team of modern day animators to complete the film as a tribute to Walt’s pioneering artistic vision. Accompanying the highly anticipated short is an all-new feature length documentary entitled “Dali & Disney: A Date With Destino,” which explores the origins of the relationship between Disney and Dali, their collaboration on Destino, and ultimately how the film came to fruition so many years after its inception.

LOVE DISNEY, I’m so glad they’re keeping up with the times and putting out blu-ray DVD’s. Fantasia is one of my niece’s favorite of all time.

Wow… now I dont feel so OLD! they started the beginngs of this in 1946??? Holy WOW! I dont know why but the kids and grandkids never gave this movie much of a chance. I am amazed at the whole concept of animation still. So great that Disney just keeps GOING and GOING with such great family films. Sure dont like it when they “put them in the vault” for several years…I looked ALL over for Beauty and the Beast for my grand daughter and none to be found except for a (CRAZY) price. Now she is not too interested. I will see if she has this one though!

I must be showing my age. When I see “Fantasia”, I think of American Idol….lol.

The graphics on this look beautiful!

I love Fantasia! I absolutely love those little mushrooms. I have it on VHS, and we replaced some Disney movies on DVD no comes the Blu-ray. I can’t keep up.

I am glad you reviewed Fantasia. This was the last Blu-Ray DVD Combo I purchased of the 5 required for the Disney Movie Rewards $59 Sony Blu-Ray player promotion. I excitedly came home, entered in my rewards code to UNLOCK my Blu-Ray player. Only to have the biggest disappointment when my offer did not unlock. I went to the DMR Facebook page and found out the Blu-Ray player had sold out 21 hrs before I entered my code. I was so frustrated that it really tainted the movie for me and I didn’t even feel like watching it. The clip you featured in your review got me excited about it again. I only wished that DMR had emailed members to let them know the player was sold out. I would have waited until after the holidays to buy the last DVD since it was expensive.

My son recently discovered Mickey and I bet he would love this one.
