When we lived in Texas Patrick worked next door to a Dickey’s Original Barbecue, and we frequented the food restaurant all the time (you should see the collection of Dickey’s cups we have). I fell in love with their sliced brisket plate quickly. You can imagine how sad I was moving back to California and not having Dickey’s anymore… or so I thought!

Ontario has one of the few Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants in So. Cal. an we love to go! Of course any excuse to go get Barbecue I am like “YES PLEASE!!” We were asked to go try the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. A juicy marinated chicken breast smothered in a fiery blend of Dickey’s Original Barbecue Sauce and Texas Pete® Hot Sauce. We also got to try out the Sweet Pork Cornbread Sandwich which is loaded with smoked pulled pork and Dickey’ Barbecue Sauce.

Pat and I decided that we would split both sandwiches to see what we both thought (of course we ordered my very favorite brisket too)

My first thoughts were that there was a lot of meat in the sandwiches and I was happy to see the onions. I was a tad disappointed in how watery the onions were though.

The chicken was nice and tender and I loved the flavor. It definitely was not spicy to me though. Pat said he liked the Pork best while I liked the chicken.  The Pork sandwich  was super juicy and tasted awesome with the cornbread bun.

Even Shelby loved everything!   The sandwiches do not come with any sides or as a meal so you can purchase sides separately.

  1. If we had one near us, I know we would be checking it out. This is the first I’ve even heard the name. I wonder what they did to those onions, that would have disappointed me too.
