Brave Girls a Book on Raising Young Women

Brave Girls Book Raising young women with passion and purpose to become powerful leaders (1)

I have two young girls who are ten and thirteen. Raising them to be be strong young women is not an easy task these days. Our children have so many outside influences and a society that well..  really won’t get into detail on that.

But as a mother I find it is so important to lead our young girls to become leaders with love, kindness and passion. My daughters are both at that age where they need extra guidance and I am happy to have found Brave Girls: Raising Young Women with Passion and Purpose to Become Powerful Leaders.

I am still in the middle of the book but am so grateful for this book.  Author Stacey Radin wrote Brave Girls by drawing on her own experience with Unleashed, an after-school program dedicated to empowering girls through puppy rescue, Radin has written Brave Girls—the ultimate guidebook for parents and educators who want to learn how to help their girls become confident, passionate, and powerful leaders.

I found this book to be resourceful, some of her ideas are new to me while others are great reminders on ways to help our young ladies.  One of the chapters I liked was Finding Their Passion. I completely agree with that if we help our girls find things they have passion about we can help guide them to reach for goals. Like say we have a child who has passion in music. Lets find ways to help the girls shine, extra music classes or take them to watch an orchestra. Ways for them to grow their passion. My oldest daughter loves to sing, so she will be auditioning for an extra band at school.  This is a great way for us to encourage her and support her.

Both of my daughters are also in Girl Scouts and what I love is they are also teaching the girls about finding things they enjoy, and really help with raising the children’s confidence and finding a sisterhood that they can go to.  Which is another section of the book that I agree with.

“There is no more powerful way to build girls’ social-emotional intelligence than to connect their capacity to care about causes for which they feel passion with the opportunity to learn skills so that they can make a difference in the world. Brave Girls is the story of how this happens in the context of animal rights and welfare, through the”unleashed” program. You will read inspiring and moving stories of how girls have had their lives transformed, and how you can do the same for the girls in your life for whom you care deeply.” (Maurice J. Elias, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology, Rutgers University)

Unleashed actively invests in the next generation of female leaders and change-makers by empowering adolescent girls. We believe that adolescence is the ideal time for girls to develop the critical tools they need to become powerful females and future leaders. You can learn how to get involved by heading over to
