Avatar’s Extended Edition on Blu Ray *Giveaway closed*
I was completely taken back when I saw Avatar. The movie was amazing, the graphics outstanding and the storyline something we all should live by.
Avatar’s Extended Edition to teach their kids how to be green this holiday season, especially by utilizing the disc’s special “A Message from Pandora,” asset, which features James Cameron and his other cast and crew trying to save the Amazon rain forest.
The “Message From Pandora” feature:
- A Message From Pandora – a great special feature to watch with any member of your family who is concerned about the environment. It documents James Cameron’s trip to Brazil where he met with some of the native tribes to show them his support and to speak up against the building of a dam that will destroy the ways of the indigenous people who live there.
After watching this feature, this could open up a discussion with your kids about how deeply Cameron cares for the environment, and what simple things they can do to help to be green such as:
- Making sure the lights are turned off when you leave a room
- Turning off the water when you brush your teeth
- Using tote bags at the grocery store instead of plastic ones
- Carrying reusable water bottles instead of the plastic ones to reduce waste

Every Sunday my sister and I go around the city and collect bottles. We also volunteer once every two weeks at the humane society. i dont know if that counts.

I recycle and compost
We’ve been planting butterfly and bee-friendly plants in our yard. This past fall, we cleared an area of overgrown invasive plants that’s going to be a future milkweed plant garden for the Monarch Butterflies. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of Avatar!
I combine car trips to save gas. And I always take my own canvas totes when shopping.
Bringing our own canvas shopping bags when we shop, taking items to recycle station (cans, plastic & glass bottles, newspapers), only run full loads of laundry, turn tap off while brushing teeth, take short showers, combine errands to make fewer trips with car to save gas, are a few of the ways we’re trying to help our planet.

We’re big recyclers but that’s the basic thing we can do. We are making little changes all around the house which will hopefully add up to bigger things in the long run. For example, we put our dish soap in a glass oil dispenser so the bottle can’t be squeezed too much and only a small amount comes out, we’re cleaning our kitchen floors with a steam mop and distilled water to minimize use of harsh cleaners, in general we’re trying to just use less consumable “stuff”.

The kids saw Avatar – and loved it. Would love to have the movie in our BluRay collection.
Like many, we’ve recycled for years. I think participating in FreeRecycle instead of tossing unwanted/outgrown items has kept a huge amount of stuff out of our trash.
while we haven’t gone hybrid we’ve never had gas guzzler cars. During my soccermom years of needing a stationwagon/suv, mine got 30 mpg and had highest safety ratings. While operating impact of hybrids are wonderful for owners, the construction of the hybrid creates a huge carbon footprint.

I’ve been recycling forever and have made a bunch of other people do it too.
We have been recycling since before it was ‘popular’ – and now I am using cloth bags for grocery shopping instead of ‘paper or plastic’
we recycle, compost and grow our own veggies year round! we also educate our kids on the importance of re using and recycling and what it means, we make them help out.
Our family is big into recycling
I am trying to recycle whatever I can, swap and/or reuse whenever possible, decrease my use of consumables.
In my household we recycle like many others. We pride ourselves on having many compost bins and several rain barrels to produce and sustain our gardens, both floral and veggie.

We do what we can, like recycle, combine shopping trips, keep the thermostat at 65 in the winter and 78 in the summer, take 5 minute showers, turn off everything thats not in use, etc. It doesn’t feel like we’re making any progress though… I really hope everyone starts trying to better the Earth instead of just the diehards who only end up making life less comfortable for themselves. Great giveaway though, I loved Avatar!
